Package on Package (PoP) needs multi-grid simulation
Anasim Corporation / Aug. 06, 2008
As handsets and ultra-portable devices continue scaling, a trend that is becoming common is Package-on-Package or PoP. Read more at this EETimes article link.
PoP designs often include multiple chip power grids paralleled together, bringing complex electromagnetic interactions between these grids. Modeling and simulating such multi-grid power integrity scenarios is a snap for pi-fp, and is critical for operating voltage and energy optimization for such system-in-package architectures.

Anasim releases free DEMO pi-fp
Anasim is pleased to release a free, demonstration version of pi-fp for Microsoft Windows® downloadable from it’s website home page’s download section.
The DEMO version incorporates a few limitations such as restrictions to one power grid and 10 maximum transmission lines. These restrictions do not hinder any of the electro-magnetic analysis or optimization capabilities of pi-fp.
The DEMO software is provide “As Is” and is meant primarily for users’ familiarization with Anasim’s methodology and pi-fp’s analysis and optimization capabilities. Anasim expressly disclaims any potential liability arising out of any use of this free software provided.
The DEMO software will remain available free of charge to users until June 01, 2008 as of the present.
The free DEMO pi-fp software may be downloaded directly from this link. Questions may be directed to enquiries with valid contact information and will be responded to promptly.

Anasim’s EDA BLOG pages
Anasim offers it’s BLOG pages to the EDA community for active discussion and learning.
This moderated BLOG is intended for discussions relating to IC floor planning, power integrity, low power design and other related topics.
A key purpose for the BLOG pages at Anasim is also to discuss in detail aspects of its flagship product pi-fp, arguably the industry’s first power integrity aware floor planner, that permits rapid, system-level what-if analyses on SoC floor plans.
Happy blogging…
